Happy New Year 2017

 In Uncategorized

Happy new year! I hope you all had a very fun & relaxing festive time of year and are feeling inspired by your new year’s resolutions!

At this time of the year it is only natural to look back to all that happened in the past 12 months and can I just say, WOW what 12 months they’ve been.

It started with me folding over 2000 pieces for a Wedding in France, followed by a busy Valentine’s day and a challenging but amazing opportunity to produce 40 centre pieces for an event in March, then when summer came business went absolutely insane and many days I didn’t sleep more than 4h to ensure all lovely couples would get their anniversary gift on time. Things did quietened down a bit which allowed me to create a few new products just in time for Christmas. Overall with almost 5000 origami pieces folded I feel a great sense of achievement and for me, from a business perspective, 2016 was a truly amazing year.

The most popular products this year have definitely been the single stem roses, shortly followed by personalised cufflinks. I have particularly enjoyed making a wedding bouquet from the pages of an Asterix comic book, and folding my first ever Asian wedding outfits for a client’s anniversary. But my absolute highlight of the year was creating mechanically rotating origami constellation centre pieces for the supporter’s dinner of The Big Bang fair in the NEC. As an artist it pushed my creative thinking and my problem solving techniques which are invaluable lessons I can take with me to 2017.

Enough of reminiscing about the year just gone, 2017 has just started and I have great plans for the year ahead! You can expect new products, a website re-launch and the branding make-over that started last year will be finished soon so watch this space! We will also be offering tutorials and helpful tips throughout the year on our blog posts, so be sure to check in for any new updates and competitions.

The Origami Boutique wouldn’t be what it is without all your support for the past year (and the 3 before that for that matter). I hope the gifts that I have carefully folded for you & your loved ones put a smile on their faces, and still continue to brighten their day.

So let me wish you a very happy 2017 and here’s to a new year full of exciting opportunities! Cheers!
